Empower your workforce with Microsoft Copilot: HR is a free Microsoft Learn module built on two HR jobs: understanding how well managers are performing, and answering employees' policy questions. The first exercise identifies manager effectiveness metrics in Excel, produces a manager summary report, reports the findings to HR leadership in Outlook and builds collaborative manager development plans in Loop. The second builds an HR self-service agent with Agent Builder, grounded in approved policy documents, announces it in Viva Engage, tests it with policy questions, and uses the Researcher agent to gather information for an employee relocation. It is part of Microsoft's Empower your workforce with Microsoft Copilot learning path and ends with its own assessment. The exercises are done in your own Microsoft 365 environment. Some tasks need a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, and which agent features are available depends on the licenses and admin settings in place.

Why we suggest this course

The two exercises match two separate HR workloads. The first is analysis: finding which metrics say something about manager effectiveness, then carrying the findings from a spreadsheet to HR leadership and into a development plan. The second is service: an agent grounded in approved policy documents that answers employees' policy questions, which the exercise then tests the way an employee would use it. One thing to know: the module asks you to review Copilot's output for privacy and appropriate use of HR information, but what employee data may be analyzed at all is still decided by your organization's own policies.
