Privacy & Cookie Policy

This policy explains what information AI Pinnacle collects when you visit aipinnacle.org, how it is used, and the rights you have. You can read everything on this site without accounts, sign-ups, or sharing any personal details. We set no cookies, so there is nothing for you to accept or decline. If you visited before 29 July 2026, the Cookies section below explains what may still be left in your browser from the analytics we used then.

Who we are

AI Pinnacle (aipinnacle.org) is a curated AI-learning resource operated as a sole proprietorship based in South Africa. For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), the operator of AI Pinnacle is the “controller” / “responsible party” for any personal information processed through this site, and acts as its Information Officer under POPIA.

What information we collect

We do not ask you to create an account, and the site itself does not collect names, email addresses, or payment details, because it offers none of those features — other than any details you choose to put in an email to us (see below). The information that may be processed is:

• Aggregate usage data. We use Vercel Web Analytics to see approximate visitor counts, which pages are popular, and which sites referred you, along with country-level location and the general type of device, browser and operating system used — all worked out from the request itself. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, does not collect information that identifies you personally, and does not follow you between sites. We use it only to understand which content is useful and to improve the site.
• Server and security logs. Like virtually all websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically records standard technical information (such as IP addresses and requested pages) to deliver the site reliably and to protect it against abuse. This is not used to identify or profile you.
• Emails you send us. If you contact us at contact@aipinnacle.org, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it to reply to you and to keep a record of the exchange — and, if it ever came to it, to deal with a legal matter arising from that exchange. These emails are routed via Cloudflare Email Routing and delivered to a mailbox hosted by Google (Gmail). How long we keep them is set out under “Data retention” below.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it except as needed to provide the services described below, or where the law requires us to.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website can store in your browser. AI Pinnacle sets no cookies. Not for analytics, not for advertising, not for tracking you across other sites. Because we set none, this site shows no cookie banner and offers no cookie settings.

Between 5 June 2026 and 29 July 2026 we offered optional Google Analytics behind an opt-in banner. Both the analytics and the banner have since been removed. If you visited during that period, two things may still be left in your browser: Google Analytics cookies, if you accepted at the time, and a small local-storage entry named aip-cookie-consent that recorded your choice either way. We no longer use either one — nothing on this site writes to them, and we make no use of anything they contain. You can clear both through your browser settings whenever you like.

If we ever start using tracking that needs your consent, we will ask for it before anything loads, and update this policy at the same time. Cookies that are strictly necessary to deliver or protect the site — including any set by our hosting or network providers — do not need consent; if any come into use, they will be described here rather than put behind a banner.

Legal basis for processing

Where GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests for all three things we process: running a secure, reliable website (the standard server logs), understanding in aggregate which content is useful (the cookieless analytics), and replying to people who write to us (emails you send us). Where POPIA applies, processing is carried out lawfully on equivalent grounds.

We do not need to ask for your consent, because nothing we run stores or reads anything on your device — the consent rules for cookies and similar technologies are about device storage, not about analytics in general.

Some of what is processed is still personal data: the IP addresses in our host's server logs, and anything you put in an email to us. Both rest on legitimate interests, and you can object to either — see “Your rights” below.

Third parties and international transfers

Three providers receive personal data in the course of running the site, and may process it outside South Africa and the European Economic Area: Vercel, our host, receives the technical information in every request to the site; Cloudflare carries emails you send us; and Google holds those emails in the mailbox they are delivered to, under Google's Privacy Policy. Each provides its services under its own privacy terms. We no longer use Google Analytics, and we use no advertising, profiling or cross-site tracking service of any kind. The only measurement on this site is the cookieless Vercel Web Analytics described above.

The site also links out to third-party tools and courses. When you follow an external link, that destination's own privacy policy applies — we are not responsible for the content or practices of other websites.

Your rights

Under POPIA and, where it applies, the GDPR, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to object to or restrict its processing — including any processing we carry out on the basis of our legitimate interests. In practice there is little to exercise them against: we set no cookies, ask you for no names or contact details, and keep no user records of our own. The personal data connected to you is the technical information in our host's server logs, and any email you choose to send us. You can ask us to delete an email you have sent us, and we will, unless we still need it — to resolve a legal matter, for example. If we ever have to refuse, we will tell you why.

To make a request, email us at contact@aipinnacle.org. If you are in South Africa and believe we have not handled your information properly, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa). If you are in the EU or UK, you may complain to your local data protection authority.

Data retention

We do not store personal data in any database of our own. Vercel Web Analytics aggregates data and does not tie it to an identifiable visitor. Server logs are held by our hosting provider (Vercel) and retained under its own retention periods, which we do not set. Emails you send us stay in our mailbox while they are still useful — while we are dealing with your request, and while the exchange may be relevant to a later one. We delete them when you ask us to, unless we need to keep one to resolve a legal matter.

Children's privacy

AI Pinnacle is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. The “Last updated” date above shows when it was last changed. If we ever start using cookies or tracking that needs your consent, we'll ask for it before anything loads, and say so here.
