Empower your workforce with Microsoft Copilot: Executives
Microsoft Learn
Last updated October 6, 2026
Empower your workforce with Microsoft Copilot: Executives is a free Microsoft Learn module in which you work as a senior leader, using Copilot to keep track of projects, prepare a briefing, analyze a budget forecast and plan new work. The first exercise stays in Microsoft Teams: summarizing a project's communications and a project discussion, collecting insights across projects, and preparing an executive summary. The second produces a briefing report in Word, analyzes a budget forecast in Excel, drafts a project plan with the AI Project Manager agent in Planner, and ends by building an agent that reports performance metrics and flags emerging issues, then asking it the questions an executive would. It is part of Microsoft's Empower your workforce with Microsoft Copilot learning path and ends with its own assessment. The first exercise uses your own Microsoft 365 data; the second casts you as an executive at a fictional company. Some tasks need a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, and which agent features are available depends on the licenses and admin settings in place.

Why we suggest this course
For a leader deciding how far to take Copilot across an organization, it is a way to judge the tool on executive tasks rather than on a general demonstration: pulling many threads into one summary, writing a briefing, analyzing a budget forecast and starting a plan. The closing tasks, building an agent that answers business questions from the company's files and then questioning it, show what building an agent involves, which is useful to know before approving agents more widely. One thing to know: it teaches using Copilot, not adoption strategy, governance or return on investment; a leader who needs those will want a strategy course alongside it.
