AI Literacy is a jargon-free learning plan from IBM SkillsBuild, around four hours across two modules, built for people starting from scratch. The first module explores how AI systems learn and improve and where they already appear across industries; the second focuses on working alongside AI — how machine learning differs from human learning, how people and AI collaborate, and a hands-on challenge guiding an AI assistant to draft a product launch plan. It is deliberately plain-spoken and is offered in twelve languages. Complete both modules to earn the IBM SkillsBuild "AI Literacy" digital credential.

Why we suggest this course

Built for an absolute start: if terms like "machine learning" still feel slippery, it meets you there with no jargon, everyday examples, and a small hands-on task. It's the more introductory of IBM's two beginner plans — lighter than "Getting Started with Artificial Intelligence," which goes further into the mechanics — so it's a natural place to begin before moving on. Both are free and credential-backed; you'll need a free IBM account, and the credential comes from finishing both modules. A bonus: it's available in twelve languages, so a strong choice if English isn't your first language.
