AI Fluency for Nonprofits is a free, short video course from Anthropic for people working at nonprofits who want to use AI well on limited resources and without drifting from their mission. It applies the four habits of the 4D framework to nonprofit work: Delegation (choosing which tasks AI can take on and which stay human, given small teams and high stakes), Description (giving the AI enough context to be useful for your cause), Discernment (checking AI output carefully — analytical accuracy matters when you answer to funders, boards, and the people you serve), and Diligence (handling data responsibly and using AI in a way that holds up to your stakeholders). It walks through tasks common across fundraising, communications, program delivery, operations, and leadership, and looks at what it takes to adopt AI across a whole organization, not just at one desk. The course was made with GivingTuesday, drawing on research into what nonprofit staff actually need and worry about. Examples use Claude.ai because Anthropic makes the course, but the habits transfer to any chatbot. It builds on the framework rather than re-teaching it: Anthropic recommends the foundational course, AI Fluency: Framework & Foundations, first.
